Location
AGROERG analyzed various regions in the country to locate the sugar cane alcohol company. The Triangulo Mineiro region was chosen as the location for Agroerg´s industrial unit because it has favorable conditions such as climate, logistics, human resources and fertile soil.
The Triangulo Mineiro was the region that displayed the largest number of favorable parameters for implementation of the project as follows:
AGROERG’s industrial unit is situated at Fazenda São Bento, km 40 BR-153, in the town of Centralina (MG).
Water availability
AGROERG also owns an area close to the industrial plant (about 4 km away) which will capture water for the project. Fazenda Piedade, as it is known, is located on the River Paraná basin, sub-basin of the River Paranaíba with water being collected from the Retiro stream, a tributary of the River Piedade.
Sugar cane Logistics
The company’s full area is approximately 35,000 hectares (including production and agricultural division) encompassing sugar cane cultivation. The logistics are suitable for cutting, loading, transportation and reception of the sugar cane because this is situated on the right margin of BR-153 between the two crossroads (next to the so-called Trevão). This facilitates entrance and exit of trucks in and out of the plant. Furthermore, the region of sugar cane cultivation is surrounded by major highways such as BR-153, BR-154, BR-365 and BR-452.
Product Logistics
The future industrial unit will benefit from easy distribution for alcohol both to the domestic market and for exports through ports. Its location on BR-153 favors distribution of the product in the domestic market by road. The BR-153 is a double lane highway interlinking three important states in Brazil: São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Goiás. Production will be transported on safe and modern highways to the main Brazilian distribution terminal located in Paulínia (in the state of São Paulo).
For export of ethanol, AGROERG’s plant also has a large competitive advantage because its multiple operations will be crossed by an alcohol pipeline, linking the Senador Canhedo Terminal in the state of Goiás to the Port of São Sebastião in São Paulo.

Connection with local energy substation
The AGROERG project has a direct connection of 138 kV with the electrical energy substation of Avatinguara (in the state of Minas Gerais), located about 6 km away. Cemig (Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais) has formally communicated availability of power for the AGROERG energy plant from the substation of Avatinguara for future supply of electrical energy via a local grid.
