AGROERG is an agro-energy company that has chosen to produce biomass energy while respecting the environment and its inhabitants.

With an investment of 485 million reais, the activities of AGROERG’s industrial unit are due to begin with 2011’s harvest.  Milling capacity of 12,000 tons/day sugar cane, equivalent to approximately 2,500,000 tons/year, will be reached in 2013, when the area planted is likely to reach 35,000 hectares.

The industrial unit was designed so as to enable the capacity of sugar cane production to increase threefold to eventually reach 7.5 million tons/year.

Hydrous and anhydrous ethyl alcohols are the main products as well as co-generation of electrical energy from sugar cane bagasse. The projected capacity for alcohol production is 216,000 m³ and potential energy generated will be 60 MW/year, of which 12 MW will be consumed internally by the plant, leaving 48 MW available for sale.

The project began in March 2007 and should be completed in April 2013. Milling should begin in 2011 with an initial capacity of 500,000 tons/year of sugar cane.

Planting of sugar-cane is anticipated to begin in early 2011. Initially, the planted area will be 5,552 hectares, increasing to 12,302 hectares in 2012, 24,052 hectares in the third year, 27,802 hectares in 2014 and 35,552 hectares from 2015 onwards. AGROERG’s main goal is to carry out crop rotation in rural areas through previous plantation of soy beans so as to recover degraded pastures.

Co-generation of energy will be brought on stream in the second phase of the enterprise as from 2013.

Net Sales are estimated at 250 million reais, and it is expected to create more than 1,500 jobs in Centralina and the surrounding region.
