AGROERG was created to develop a greenfield project for the production of ethanol and electrical energy. Formed by a group of partners with experience in business management, sugar cane plant projects, agribusiness and the financial sector. The company’s goal is to produce and market ethanol and electrical energy.
Among the company’s founding partners is Roberto Rodrigues, former Agriculture Minister (2003-2006) who is currently a producer and supplier of sugar cane in the State of São Paulo. Today, Fazenda Santa Izabel, which he owns, located in Guariba (in the state of São Paulo), is a benchmark for mechanized planting and harvesting of sugar cane. In the technical rural sector of farming technology, Rodrigues was the first to introduce the concept of soybean-sugar cane crop rotation, which later led to the creation of Coplana – the Cooperative of Sugar Cane Growers in the Zone of Guariba (Coplana - Cooperativa dos Plantadores de Cana da Zona de Guariba), and the Sugar Cane/Food project developed by Planalsucar - National Program for the Improvement of Sugar Cane (Programa Nacional de Melhoramento da Cana-de-Açúcar). With partnerships made with UNESP (Universidade Estadual Paulista), Rodrigues introduced new products, varieties and equipment that have contributed to an increase in productivity and cost reduction at the Fazenda Santa Izabel. In addition, he created a production cost control system that served as a model for those currently in use by FGV Fundação Getúlio Vargas) and IEA - Institute of Agricultural Economy (Instituto de Economia Agrícola), which is connected to the Department of Agriculture and Food Supply of the State of São Paulo.
In the industrial division, AGROERG has the experience and knowledge of its director Carlos Tambellini. He is a founding partner of Empral Desenvolvimento de Equipamentos Ltda., an engineering firm specialized in sugar and ethanol production processes, with more than 20 years experience carrying out greenfield projects and increase in productivity.
